Middlesbrough Council is proud to support Counter Terrorism Policing Northeast in helping to keep our communities safer and more resilient from the threat of terrorism.
The work of Counter Terrorism Policing and the council is currently focusing on assisting our communities, business partners, and those we work closely with to embed core resilience components, appropriate staff awareness, and training in order to keep organisations safer and more secure, whilst also increasing wider community safety.
To assist you in this task, the Community Safety Team and regional Counter Terrorism Security Advisors have compiled the resources below to help you determine the most appropriate pathway for your organisation.
The links provided are for you and/or your security manager's consideration in partnership with your staff to help your business be as safe and resilient as possible.
- Please risk assess your existing sites and any new premises such as outdoor spaces with security in mind and consider both ProtectUK's risk assessment process and NPSA's personnel security advice.
- Ensure your staff and volunteers are trained by signing them up to ACT Awareness eLearning. It is free and takes just 45 minutes. The training is available on the Highfield eLearning website.
- Provide your staff with the 'See, Check and Notify - SCaN for All' training. This can help staff become more vigilant to activities of suspicious individuals engaged in activities directed towards premises. Find out more on the SCaN for All website.
- Download the ProtectUK app as an individual or through a large-enterprise rollout to stay up-to-date with current advice, guidance, and bulletins. You can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- You can also visit the Protect UK website for all of the up-to-date guidance and training.
We advise the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour or activity to police, in confidence via the government website, or in an emergency the public should always call 999.
